Platform Terminology and Information Architecture
A reference guide to the terms and structural concepts used within the Mynqezorax system. Intended for users who want to understand the platform more precisely before navigating its categories or submitting an enquiry.
Why Terminology Matters
Information-organisation systems use specific vocabulary to describe how records are arranged, accessed, and reviewed. The terms used within the Mynqezorax interface reflect deliberate structural choices rather than generic labels. Understanding what each term means helps users navigate the system more efficiently and frame their enquiries more clearly.
This page defines the key terms used across the Mynqezorax interface and explains how the information architecture is intended to work in practice.
Key Terms
Record
A record is a single entry in the system. It contains the information associated with one instance of the subject covered by its category. Records follow a consistent format within their category, meaning that the same fields appear in the same positions for every record of the same type. Users can compare records within a category because of this structural consistency.
Category
A category is a named grouping of records that share a defined set of classification criteria. Every record belongs to exactly one category. The category's scope description explains which types of records it contains and which it does not. Categories are the primary means of navigation within the Mynqezorax system.
Classification Criterion
A classification criterion is one of the rules used to decide which category a record belongs to. When a record is added to the system, the classification logic evaluates its attributes against the criteria for each category and assigns it accordingly. Where multiple criteria apply, precedence rules determine the final assignment.
Scope Description
A scope description is the explanatory text that accompanies each category. It tells users what the category includes, what it excludes, and how it relates to neighbouring categories. Users should read the scope description before assuming that a category contains the type of record they are looking for.
Access Level
The access level of a record or category indicates whether it is visible to all users or requires a submitted enquiry. The system distinguishes between public access and enquiry-gated access. The access level is displayed as part of the category or record information rather than being hidden from view.
Enquiry
An enquiry is a formal request submitted by a user through the enquiries page or directly by email. It initiates a review by the Mynqezorax team. An enquiry may seek information from an enquiry-gated category, request clarification about a specific record, or raise a question about how the system works. Enquiries are reviewed individually.
Review
Within the Mynqezorax system, review refers to the activity of examining one or more records or categories. A review is user-initiated and takes place through the system's interface. It does not require prior registration for publicly available content. The term is used specifically for the act of reading and examining information within the platform, rather than as a synonym for an external assessment or evaluation.
Information Architecture
The Mynqezorax information architecture is organised around three levels: the platform level, the category level, and the record level.
Platform Level
At the platform level, users see the complete set of available categories. Navigation from this level allows users to identify which categories are relevant to their purpose before descending to the record level. The platform-level view does not display individual records; it shows category names, scope summaries, and access level indicators.
Category Level
At the category level, users see the records contained within a chosen category. The display format is determined by the category's record type. Users can sort, filter (where applicable), and compare records at this level. The scope description is displayed at the top of the category view so that users can confirm they are in the correct section before reviewing individual records.
Record Level
At the record level, users see the full detail of a single entry. All fields defined for the record type are displayed. Where a field is empty or unavailable, this is indicated explicitly rather than omitted. Users can navigate to related records or to the parent category from the record view.
How the Terminology Applies to Enquiries
When submitting an enquiry, users are asked to select a request type. Understanding the terminology above can help users select the most appropriate request type and describe their need clearly. For example:
- If you want to view records from a category that shows as enquiry-gated, select "Category Access Enquiry".
- If you believe a specific record contains inaccurate information, select "Record Clarification".
- If you are uncertain which category to consult for a particular type of record, select "General Information Request".
A clearly worded enquiry reduces the likelihood of the team needing to ask for clarification, which can extend the time required to respond.
